The Adults first team drew 1-1 with West London Saracens and remain
unbeaten. After a good warm up, the highly motivated Dragons had to wait
half an hour for the opposition who arrived late. The physical Saracens
had the advantage on the sticky pitch and the Dragons lost patience,
team shape and were punished to make it 0-1 to the Saracens. The Dragons
regrouped at half time and scored after just 50 seconds into the half.
Both sides then played exceptional, hard, competitive good football but
neither could score. The final result of 1-1 was fair result as both
teams did not deserved to lose.
The Adult's reserves beat Imperial College 2-1 in a well deserved win.
The Dragons got off to a patchy start and were reduced to 10 men at the
start with one player going to the wrong ground. At the half it was 1-0
to the Dragons and then 2-0 before Imperial were awarded a penalty to
get a consolation goal. A great result for the Reserves who play a vital
part in the club's development.
Dragon’s adult first team were drawn an away cup game against Imperial College Old Boys in the 2nd round of the Middlesex County Football League Junior Open Cup.
After an early missed chance to score a goal, young Dragons got punished by the experienced opposition team who scored from a counter attack. After 10 minutes of constant attack, Dragons scored a brilliant goal.
Opposition team scored another goal but Dragons didn’t want to skip their turn as Dragons striker scored his second goal equalising the result.
During the 2nd half Dragons were better team creating many chances before striker deserved his first hat-trick taking Dragons into the third round of the cup. Final score 3-2 to Dragons F.C.
The New Adult Reserves just lost 1-2 to CB Hounslow in their best
performance to date. The Dragons had 80% of the possession but just
could not score more than 1 goal. It was 1-1 to within seconds of the
final whistle when Hounslow scored with a run away goal against the run
of play.
The Adults First Team beat the previously unbeaten British Airways 4:2
to go through to the 3rd round of the Middlesex County Cup. The Dragons
thought themselves unlucky to be drawn against last year's winners of
the League and Cup but they faced up to the challenge with courage and
determination. BA scored first but the Dragons fought back and after 7
minutes equalized and then went ahead to make it 2-1 at the half.
Knowing that the best way to defend is to attack the Dragons pushed
forward and scored again. The experienced opposition goalkeeper saved BA
from a catastrophe. Finally minutes before the end Dragons scored a 4th
goal before relaxing and letting BA score a consolation goal in the last
minute. A tremendous win - especially for a new side.
The Reserve Adults lost away to Feltham in the same Cup competition
Adult first team had no match.
The Reserve Adults drew 3-3 with league leaders Brenthem in a result
demonstrating the huge strides the Dragons are making in their first
season. The Dragon Reserves had been beaten 2-9 in their first match of
the season but were unlucky not to win in the rematch. At half time it
was 2-2 and at the 88th minute 3-3 when Brenthem were awarded a penalty
only to have the heroic Dragon keeper save it to secure the draw.
The Adults 1st team beat Eutectic FC 4-2. In an even game between 2
undefeated teams the Dragons won their 4th game in a row to climb to the
top of the league table. After many chances at both ends Eutectic showed
more maturity and scored just 8 minutes from the break. The Dragons
immediately piled on the pressure and scored from a deserved penalty
kick. After the break the Dragons set a more attacking formation which
lead to them pulling ahead to 3-1. The experienced Eutectic players
managed to reduced the lead but the Dragons refused to panic and
eventually secured a fourth goal to win 4-2.
The Adult Reserves lost 3-1 away against Hillingdon Reserves in a match
which could have been won with a different interpretation of the rules
by the referee.
Adult first team started the game very nervous conceding goal in less than five minutes. As usual, young Dragon’s players missed many goal scoring opportunities before they conceded second goal.
Referee decided before the game to not give a penalty kick for any team, regardless what happen in the penalty box. We should have four and opposition team should have one penalty kick. Even very honest opposition team linesman asked referee to give a penalty to us.
Dragons never lost believe that they could turn the game around, and they scored goal just before the half time to reduce result to 2 - 1.
In second half of the game Dragons players totally outplayed opposition team scoring two goals to win the game 3 – 2.
This is the great result in an away game against our (in the past) undefeated title rival “Horseed”.
The Adult depleted reserves lost by more than planned to CB Hounslow
Reserves in the Middlesex County Youth Cup. Again it is early days but
clearly the Reserves are a vital component of the Dragons and
encouragement needs to be applied to make full use of the players
available.
As the Middlesex county league made a mistake giving two fixtures to the reserve team and no fixture for the 1st team, we had a difficult task to decide where to play our best squad. As the most crucial information about the cup competition arrived late Friday evening, we decided to create a new strategy:
Whilst the reserve team was blessed to draw an easier opponent (Eutectic F.C) in the first cup round, the first team was unlucky with the draw as they have to face last years cup title holders (British Airways F.C) in the cup on 1st November.
As the first team fixture looks as if David v Goliath will battle it out, we decided to try to progress with a strong reserve team against a weaker opposition with hope for a lucky draw in the next round.
The strategy worked well as “Kensington Dragons Reserve F.C” (cup game selections) beat “Eutectic F.C” 2 – 1
Kensington Dragons Reserve F.C (league game selection) played against Renegades Reserve FC Young Kensington Dragons Reserve team played against Renegade first team (Middlesex County Division Two team) as their Cup game against Horseed was postponed.
The Kensington Dragons young inexperienced players started the game very well against strong and physical Renegade player’s dominating the first half missing half-a-dozen scoring opportunities. Also in second half, the Dragons started well, unable to beat the Renegades keeper who was man of the match. Unfortunately you cannot win the game on statistics; you must win by scoring more goals than opposition team.
Punishment came ten minutes before the end of the game after a defensive error which resulted to a 1:0 fall back. The Dragons continued to press however, two minutes later the opposition player scored another goal from an obvious offside position. Heads were turned down and the young Dragons conceded another goal. Overall young Dragons conceded 3 goals in 5 minutes.
